I chose Chamille Rose Garcia for my first artist and her painting titled “Blue Sailor”. I like this painting because it has a lot of emotion, I like the colors, and the shapes. The three elements that I chose to analyze are: Line, Shape, and Color.
This artist uses line to create contours which make her characters very cartoonish, they are very fluid and organic which make her paintings very whimsical. The shapes are also very organic and curvy. Some of the shapes are recognizable but others are very stylized versions of real things, there are also large tear drop shapes that are very fantastical. She uses complementary colors which create a sense off balance and energy. The red makes me think of blood and the blue makes me think of the ocean, this creates a creepy and violent feeling.
