Materials Reflection

I really enjoyed working with the different materials, my favorite were the acrylic paint, the pastel, and the ink. I liked watercolor but I had trouble getting it to do what I wanted. I also liked charcoal but it was very messy. I think I will use ink and acrylic in my self portrait. I like the bright and flat colors you can create with acrylic and it reminds me of Chamille’s paintings. I also think the ink has a very dramatic affect and would work well for creating contrast in my self portrait like in MC Escher’s woodcut. I didn’t get to work with any three dimensional material and I would like to experiment with clay in the future. I feel a lot more comfortable with the materials now that I have gotten a chance to experiment and try each one. I didn’t like working with color pencil that much because it was a lot of work and takes a lot of time to get a bold color, maybe when I have more patience I will appreciate colored pencil.
